Qualifications
Kevin Zarem, MAI is the owner of Metropolitan Appraisal and has worked in the real estate appraisal and consulting industry for over 25 years. Metropolitan Appraisal employs four appraisers and a full-time office manager.
Mr. Zarem has appeared as an expert witness in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Waukesha County Circuit Court, Brown County Circuit Court, Jefferson County Circuit Court, Federal Court, and before the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. He has testified in several cases involving condemnation acquisitions by utility companies and government agencies. Mr. Zarem has also provided litigation support for cases involving environmental contamination, construction defects and criminal fraud.
Mr. Zarem attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison where he received a bachelor’s degree from the School of Business in 1987 and was awarded a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Investment Analysis and Appraisal in 1988.
Immediately after graduate school, Mr. Zarem worked for Heitman Financial Services in their Los Angeles office. Responsibilities included underwriting commercial property acquisitions and asset management services for institutional investors.
Mr. Zarem was also formerly a senior associate with AccuVal, a national appraisal company specializing in large-scale industrial and special-use properties. Assignments were performed in more than twenty states.
Mr. Zarem is a Member of the Appraisal Institute, a Wisconsin Certified General Appraiser, a member of the International Right-of-Way Association, a frequent seminar speaker on condemnation issues, and a past President of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee County. Mr. Zarem also authored, "Quantifying Stigma, a primer for addressing damage claims in court," Right of Way Magazine (May/June 2015).
